Brussels – 18 September 2013 - Since the middle of this year, over 200 train drivers working for SNCB Logistics have received a tablet computer. SNCB Logistics is the first railway operator to provide this kind of digital tool for better two-way communication in real-time. The tablet not only provides information faster to the drivers; they can also give immediate feedback about the progress of their journey. This initiative is part of a wider range of measures that SNCB Logistics, a private rail freight operator, is carrying out to improve the safety, quality and productivity of its services.
In 2008 all companies that are active in the freight division of SNCB were combined in one integrated group, the SNCB freight group. The purpose was to join the strengths and complementary activities of the member-companies under one strong structure. In 2009 the SNCB freight group was finalised and was called SNCB Logistics . In 2011 SNCB Logistics sa/nv became an independent company and freight operator.
In this structure every single person works with the same clear mission of offering more client-oriented services and a complete logistics solution to customers, with improved quality, productivity and cost-efficiency .
