IFB connects the rail terminal Main Hub Antwerp with Rotterdam
Antwerp, June 11 2009 – IFB, member of BCargo Group and specialised in intermodal traffic, invests further in new rail connections and starts as of June 16 with a new intermodal connection between Antwerp Main Hub terminal and Rotterdam Maasvlakte (ECT Delta). In a first phase, the train will operate twice a week in each direction, with a configuration of 80 TEU.
The train leaves Antwerp every Wednesday and Friday; and leaves Rotterdam on Tuesday and Thursday. It is the purpose to increase the number of round trips per week, in function of the reaction of the market.
With this new connection, IFB offers a new link between Rotterdam and the network that IFB already assures via Main Hub Antwerp. This means in a First phase direct connections with Mouscron, Courtrai, Charleroi, Athus, Ottmarsheim, Lyon, Chalindrey, Strasbourg.
Geert Pauwels, general manager IFB and coordinator of BCargo Group: “Despite the economical crisis, IFB invests further in extending the service offering to its customers. Regardless of these new trains, IFB starts up connections between Mouscron and Zeebrugge and between Charleroi and Dresden. There are more new projects in the pipeline, that will be launched this summer and in Q3. IFB continues to believe in the fundamental power of the intermodal traffic and will continue to invest in new products and its international offering.”
